First Hunt for Astronomy
The honest math
Written for a character who has finished Shadowbringers (5.3) but not Endwalker yet. Runs until October 19, 7:59 a.m. PDT.
Tokens come from two places only. The Ultimog challenge gives 5 tokens and 70 tomestones once, and each weekly Minimog challenge gives 1 token and 10 tomestones. That means the mount needs the Ultimog plus at least 5 of the 6 Minimogs.
This half, the mount is out of reach
This Ultimog is "clear Aloalo Island 6 times", and Aloalo only unlocks after Endwalker's 6.1 story. The most you can earn now is 6 tokens from Minimogs.
That's fine
Tokens carry over into the Second Hunt for Astronomy, and tokens can be earned there too. Bank every Minimog token you can now. Square Enix hasn't said yet what the Second Hunt's challenges will be.
Tomestones are the easy part. Each Weekly Objective pays 20, and there are five weeks left, so doing only your weeklies gets you to 100.
Setup
Start here
Six steps, in order. Nothing counts until the first one is done.
- Get the Mogpendium If this is your first Treasure Trove, talk to an Itinerant Moogle. Nothing counts until you do. They're in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X 9.4, Y 11.6), New Gridania (X 12.4, Y 12.1), and Ul'dah – Steps of Nald (X 9.6, Y 9.1).
- Open it from the menu On controller, go to Duty › Collection › Mogpendium. It has four tabs: Standard, Weekly, Minimog, and Ultimog.
- Check your Weekly Objective Each player gets one random duty per week. It can be a duty you haven't unlocked (like a Dawntrail alliance raid). If so, you'll have to skip that week's 20.
- Pick this week's easier Minimog There are two options each week. Either one gives the reward, and doing both gives nothing extra.
- Claim rewards by hand Standard duty tomes arrive automatically. Weekly, Minimog, and Ultimog rewards have to be claimed inside the Mogpendium. Claim them before patch 8.05 arrives.
- Spend at the moogle Trade tomestones at any Itinerant Moogle. The exchange stays open until patch 8.1, so there's no rush to shop.

Weeks reset on Tuesdays. The tag shows whether each option looks doable at Batty's current progress.
Many options use the Bozjan Southern Front, which needs a level 80 combat job, the 5.3 MSQ finale, and the Bozja intro quests The Bozja Incident and Fire in the Forge. The Bozja Incident requires finishing the Stormblood alliance raids, Return to Ivalice.
Week 2 · Sep 15–21
Bozja
Complete a Critical Engagement. Sign up in the Resistance Recruitment window. Spots are limited and chosen randomly, so it can take a few tries.
Easiest
Decipher a timeworn map and dig up the treasure. Buy a cheap low-level map on the Market Board, use Decipher on it, go to the marked spot, and use Dig. The map page explains how to unlock Decipher and Dig.
Week 3 · Sep 22–28
Bozja
Complete 5 skirmishes in Bozja.
Doable
Play one match of Doman Mahjong against other players. NPC matches don't count. Check the wiki for the unlock requirement first.
Week 4 · Sep 29–Oct 5
Bozja
Complete a Critical Engagement.
Doable
Beat the Idle Imperial at Triple Triad in Azys Lla (X 28, Y 31, Gamma Quadrant). You've already done the Heavensward MSQ needed to reach the zone. If you're new to Triple Triad, unlock it at the Gold Saucer and practice before this week.
Week 5 · Oct 6–12
Hard
Clear The Battle of Castrum Lacus Litore. This needs Resistance Rank 10 in Bozja, which takes a long time.
Easiest
Clear any 10-floor set of Palace of the Dead. Floors 1–10 are quick and friendly, and the Duty Finder fills the party for you.
Week 6 · Oct 13–19
Hard
Complete Delubrum Reginae (normal; Savage doesn't count). It sits deep in the Bozja storyline.
Locked
Complete Mount Rokkon 4 times. This is an Endwalker variant dungeon, and the wiki marks this option as unconfirmed.
Realistic total for Batty: 4 tokens
From weeks 2 through 5. If you caught a Caterwauler last week, that's 5. Week 6 is only possible if you push far into Bozja first.

Ultimog challenge
Skip it this half.
Clear Aloalo Island 6 times for 70 tomestones and 5 tokens. It unlocks with Stranger from Paradise after the 6.1 MSQ, so it isn't available until you get through Endwalker.
This is the single reason the mount can't be finished this half. Nothing else in the event is blocked for you.

GATEs: the best filler
GATEs are minigames at the Gold Saucer that start every 20 minutes. Tomestones scale with the MGP you earn. The Slice Is Right pays up to 10 and Any Way the Wind Blows up to 8. Even a poor showing pays 1. Stand in the Gold Saucer between duty queues so you're ready when one starts.
Ocean fishing: the relaxed option
Ocean Fishing is a boat ride leaving from Limsa Lominsa every two hours, and it needs Fisher. Score 2,000 points for 5 tomestones, 5,000 for 8, and 8,000 for 10. The wiki page shows the schedule and which bait to bring for each route, and using the right bait makes a big difference.
PvP: Hidden Gorge and Frontline
A Hidden Gorge match takes about 10–13 minutes and pays 5 for a win or draw and 3 for a loss. Hidden Gorge pops more often during this event. Frontline maps pay the same. You'll need PvP unlocked (level 30), and losing still pays, so it's low-pressure.

Out of reach for now: the Dawntrail alliance raids (Jeuno, San d'Oria, Windurst), which pay 7–9 each, and The Gilded Araya (level 90).
What doesn't count
Duty Support, Trust, and adventurer squadrons give no tomestones, so queue through the regular Duty Finder with real players. If you go in as an unrestricted party with friends, turn on Level Sync or you'll get nothing.

What to spend tomestones on
The mount is the priority: set aside 100 and wait for the Second Hunt to finish the tokens.
Anything beyond 100 can go to items you'd otherwise have a hard time getting.
